A few years ago I started my first startup driven by the need to innovate in the design of surf garments and disseminate Peruvian culture through their designs. As time passed I discovered the only way to make a sustainable business was to support it with technology. Law and technology are powerful tools that can boost the competitiveness of our country. I am very interested in learning about new digital business models and how reasonable regulations can allow us to achieve a more digital country that offers more opportunities for all.
In order to build a digital society we need to reinvent ourselves and search for agile and innovative solutions to address the challenges imposed by the digital economy. After an important experience in the public and private sector in Competition and Privacy Law, I applied for a master's degree in Spain where i discovered the fascinating world of Digital Law and linked it to my previous experience. I believe in sharing economy and collaborative apps, so I plan, in the near future, to develop an app for promoting social aid projects.
Legal innovator and strategist
Curiosity led me to explore different paths in law and beyond. After working as an attorney in law firms and in-house counsel in companies, I had the opportunity to work for two years in the commercial area of the same company I was working as in-house lawyer. There’s when my passion for innovation began allowing me to return to the legal world with a business oriented mindset conscious of the real value that a lawyer can add to a company. Learning design thinking and agile methodologies showed me the fascinating opportunities that connect innovation with law promoting experimentation and creative thinking.
In the mid-nineties I started my career as a lawyer and, in the midst of great uncertainty, I made my first online purchase. I discovered a fascinating intersection between the Internet and its power to promote global commerce and inclusion and my career as a lawyer. Since then technology became my passion. I completed postgraduate studies abroad in technology law and for more than 10 years i have provided advice to governments, multinational companies and entrepreneurs in order to solve the challenges imposed by digital regulation. I teach in different Peruvian universities and enjoy writing and lecturing on my areas of interest.
I began my career in the legal division of a tech multinational company. One of the first challenges i had was to train clients on the secure use of the cloud and the legal validity of digital signatures. This experience made me realize the importance of bridging the gap between law and technology users. I continued my career gaining relevant expertise in regulation and public policy, data protection and technology contracts. I combine my passion for technology with the promotion of gender diversity in the legal profession and the technology industry.
