In order to build a digital society, we need to reinvent ourselves and create agile, innovative solutions to address the challenges that the digital economy imposes on us. After gaining significant experience in Competition and Data Privacy Law in the public and private sectors, I pursued a Master's degree in Spain where I discovered the fascinating world of Digital Law and linked it with my previous experience. Personally, I am a fan of collaborative economy apps because they make my life easier and I use them all the time. In the near future, I would like to develop an app to promote social aid projects.
Legal coordinator and innovator
I am a lawyer by profession, and naturally curious. This curiosity led me to explore different paths in law and other fields. After working as an attorney for law firms and as in-house counsel for companies, I had the opportunity to join the commercial area of a company for two years and that is when my passion for innovation started. This experience allowed me to return to the legal world with a more business-oriented mindset, conscious of the value that a lawyer can contribute to a company. Learning design thinking and agile methodologies showed me the enormous potential to connect innovation with law by promoting experimentation and creative thinking.
Legal and public policy counsel
My career started in the legal department of a multinational tech company. One of my first assignments was to provide clients with training on the secure use of the cloud and the legal validity of digital signatures. This experience made me realize the importance of bridging the gap between law and technology users. I continued my professional training and gained relevant expertise in regulation and public policy, personal data protection and technology contracts. I combine my passion for technology with the promotion of gender diversity in the legal profession and the technology industry.
One of my greatest aspirations is to be able to contribute in building a sustainable relationship between Law and the phenomena that the digital revolution will continue to bring. Having participated in research groups and associations related to various branches of knowledge, including law and technology, as well as having pursued part of my studies in Spain, have reaffirmed my appetite for learning and consolidated my conviction on the potential that technology has to transform the world.
When I started my career as a lawyer in the mid-1990s, I made my first online purchase with great uncertainty. That is when I discovered a fascinating intersection between the Internet and its potential to promote global commerce and inclusion, and my career as a lawyer. Since then, technology has been my passion. I completed graduate studies in technology law abroad and I have provided advice, for more than 10 years, to governments, multinational companies and entrepreneurs in order to address the challenges that digital regulation imposes. I teach in various Peruvian universities and enjoy writing and lecturing on my areas of interest.
Since the beginning of my career, I have witnessed how disruptive technologies and digital innovation have reinvented law. I had the opportunity to know these significant changes through my experience in the public and private sectors, and this encouraged me to specialize in economic regulation which is a key space to increase awareness about Digital Law in our society. I am a lawyer specialized in Competition Law and I am part of a new generation fascinated by the collaborative economy models, who seek to contribute to redefining the legal practice based on the impact of new technologies and digital inclusion.
Public policy analyst
I believe in the inclusive potential of technological development and applied innovation since, as with good public policies, they improve our quality of life and give us tools to think how we want the future to be. I was born in Argentina, spent my childhood in Uruguay and, for some years now, I have lived in Lima where I found something I was looking for –a city where I can live next to the sea-. Currently, I continue my education in governance and public policy, with special interest in digital governance, gender diversity, and the environment.
My vocation for participating in social impact projects has allowed me to realize that law and technology are key to promote the changes that we need as a society. As a law student, I had the opportunity to work in both public and private sectors, and I also successfully carried out social volunteering campaigns which reinforced my intention to create momentous legal solutions.
On my way through life, I want to contribute to improve people’s quality of life from my area of work. I am a Colombian, Peruvian at heart for six years now, and Latin American woman who believes that teamwork and a clear purpose can have an impact and lead to real changes. Being part of Niubox allows me to combine professional challenges and development with humanity.
I have always liked Law hand in hand with Economics, Technology and Journalism. For this reason, with more than 12 years in this career, I engaged in multidisciplinary areas such as Competition Law, economic regulation, media, and new information technologies. I believe that Law, like digital services, should make life easier for people and, for this purpose, it has to be simple, understandable and practical. I enjoy teaching, researching, writing, and playing soccer.
I have always enjoyed being part of companies that have as their main purpose making this world a better place. My education had a humanistic and people centered approach, that is why in Niubox I find an opportunity to make an impact and contribute with this philosophy.
